3G iPhone to be slimmer, $499 for 16GB model says latest rumor

More next-gen iPhone tidbits today, with latest rumor on the block being from ‘industry sources’ who believe Apple will release two versions of the 3G iPhone at WWDC 2008, one with 8GB of storage and priced at $399 and another with 16GB priced at $499.  According to TG Daily, it’s possible that a 32GB version could be introduced, with a $599 price point, but they couldn’t get that confirmed via their sources.

Apple launch 16GB iPhone & 32GB iPod Touch

For the first time since the iPhone's release, Apple's rolled out a new hardware version of the handset, one which doubles the included storage to 16GB of flash memory, for a cost of $499. The 8GB unit remains $399, which means that the same cost that fetched you a 4GB iPhone back in July now gets you four times as much capacity. Meanwhile, the iPhone's cousin, the iPod touch high-end model has gotten a boost to 32GB, with 8GB and 16GB capacities still on the shelves

First Trojan reported for the iPhone

Myspace To Create iPhone Client

Social Networking website Myspace, has been working on an iPhone optimized version of their page to provide easier access for Myspace addicts users. The mobile iPhone version of Myspace will include optimized profile pages, notification, and touch friendly buttons specifically for the iPhone. I’m sure come SDK time, these companies will be signed with Apple and be allowed to create applications for the iPhone that don’t require Safari.

Apple raises limit on iPhone buys

Apple has changed the rules on the number of iPhones a customer can buy. The previous limit of two handsets has been raised to five.

The changes is said to have been prompted by increased availability of the smartphone-cum-iPod.

But rumoured software update did not materialise over the weekend, doubtless to the relief of the iPhone hacking community who are still unravelling the previous patch.

Apple, AT&T sued over iPhone's visual voice mail

Apple has been sued over the iPhone's visual voice mail feature.

Klausner Technologies announced Monday that it has filed suit against the company in everyone's favorite rocket docket, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Klauser is claiming that the visual voice mail feature infringes on two patents that are said to cover the iPhone's method of selectively listening to voice mail messages rather than in the order in which they were received.

Some developers getting early iPhone SDK?

Some developers are gaining early access to Apple's iPhone and iPod touch software developer kit, according to reliable sources speaking to Electronista. A handful of companies are said to be getting rough versions of the tools to help code more advanced applications than would be possible with the current web-only solution. Exact details of what the kit allows are unknown, though it is confirmed that it produces native programs and somewhat resembles Google's OpenSocial in that it mediates between the programmer and the iPhone operating system.

Orange aiming for 100,000 iPhone sales this year

France Telecom expects to sell nearly 100,000 iPhones by the end of 2007, the French phone company's chief executive told Europe 1 radio.

"The target is a little under 100,000 sold by the end of the year," Didier Lombard said.
